Sudan: a celebration of culture

Sudan: a celebration of culture

‘Sudan: A Celebration of Culture, Time and Place’ is a 20 minute documentary film that celebrates Sudan’s history and culture, produced for the Sudan Cultural Heritage and Museums Festival 2014. Mallinson Architects instigated the creation of this film as Project Consultant to the British Council for the festival project, and acted as producer throughout the film’s production. The film was directed by Sudan filmmaker Muhammed Hanafi.

This film traces the evolution of Sudan, its people and their culture from ancient to modern times. The film includes archival film footage from Khartoum University and the Sudan Archive at Durham University, enabling this rich material to be exhibited to the public. A soundtrack rather than a formal narrative to engage with all ages and backgrounds. The film was aired throughout the festival in 2014 and is to be included in a new public documentary film archive for Sudan.
